Whirlwind

I've created a tumblr, which is blue and makes me feel more tranquil to look at. It's more filled of thoughts, rather than ideas and reflections rather than plans. It's for my quiet moments rather than my busy ones.

This blog is the latter, and will continue to hold my projects, ideas and brainstorming. Coming soon ( once I've finished a heap of assessment) is my room makeover. I'm looking forward to it.

My tumblr is updated more frequently with photos because photos are easier to upload there, so here is the link:

Well I don't mind if you don't mind, because I don't shine if you don't shine.

It's been such a long time since i've felt the interest, motivation or desire to put my thoughts into this blog.

It was ironic that two people led me towards two similiar and both very inspiring things tonight.

One was, writing a letter a day for a month, to various different people, and the other was this http://www.sleeptrip.com/300loveletters/2.html, which is nothing short of amazing in my opinion.

So I'd like to start writing.

I really like letters as a form of communication. It helps you direct your thoughts and changes your perspective, especially if you are writing to an inanimate object, which sounds crazy but it does make the time go by. I'm actually intending to write letters to actual people though, whether or not they ever get to read those letters is a different matter entirely.

Lady Chatterley's Lover is a fantastic book, if you were wondering.

escape with me.

The reason I love this is because it's an escape, it's weird, wonderful and beautiful with an out of this world aesthetic combined with their mischievous, restless energy.

It's also the reason I love fashion and visual inspiration in the forms of film and photography. Fashion is such an expression of self and despite the claims that its consumerist, conformist and superficial, I think the way you present yourself is one of the few ways you can choose to share something about yourself with others without saying a single word.

I want to wear things that feel right at home sitting on my skin. An extension of myself. I love the world of beautiful things in unusual places.

It's an escape for me and I find it's a home away from home when the real world gets stressful or too structured or when it feels like I'm not connecting with anything. It's strange that when I feel like I'm floating along, just bobbing up and down on the tide and not really connecting with the world, that a creative escape is what roots me in reality.

I have an addiction to fashion magazines that push the edge and present something that would almost be considered ugly at first glance, or not quite right. That is when things are at their most beautiful. In the words of Gabrielle Chanel herself, in order to be irreplaceable, one must be different.

I spend countless hours on the Internet searching for blogs that inspire and speak to me. I'm very excited because I've just found several more that are almost everything I want in an inspirational blog, so I'll add them to my blogroll.

I should be writing a pitch for my journalism assignment.

smells like summer

As soon as I get my eager little feet heading towards the shops, I'll be looking for :
- black ballet flats - because they're a staple, plus I need them for work
- either summery ballet flats or sandals - because i have worn out my pair of sandals and 2 pairs of flats - i've only got winter boots left!
- SUNGLASSES. Because I'm going to get a melanoma otherwise
- tinted spf 30 + moisturiser
- hats hats glorious hats. Straw trilby, black bowler, floppy straw sun hat, what's not to love?
- seafolly bikini top

Oh Summer, get in my life!

The non-neccessities are
- light coloured uni tote ( because black bags are better for winter)
- this bright peacock feather painted wallet
- Maybe that woven clutch if i'm good. But probably not yet.

:)))))))))))

Sweet little somethings

I am bursting at the seams with excitement for summer, and all things sweet. Heartbreakingly, iPhoto isn't opening on my mac, so until I get it fixed I can't put up all the beautiful gelato colours featuring in the summer fashion shows, however hopefully it will be fixed soon.

This summer I'm looking for pretty colours from sweet gelato colours shades to vibrant, jewel tones. I'm also trying to replace most black with navy, just because it suits my colouring and the season better.
These are all from Dotti, which means they are cute and affordable. I adore this top dress, and I'll be wearing it to the Valentino evening showing. My former highschool, which my sister still attends, is booking the Valentino showcase at GoMA for an evening, so it will be a bit of an event. I've got red shoes, and am planning to wear redlipstick, minimal jewellery, and have my hair in soft waves with a deep side part. I can't wait! I love Valentino, and it's so exciting that Brisbane is the only city in Australia it is showing.

It's part of Brisbane's new direction of becoming known for it's fashion and style, which is really exciting. I'm actually doing a case study of the exhibition for my creative industries assignment, so it's a great excuse to read all about it.

I also really love the dress because it's a soft white, looks like the top layer is sheer fabric, with a definite nod to Herve Leger's body con bandage dresses, of which I am an undying fan.

You may have noticed two pairs of skinny jeans in this post, despite my declaration that I didn't like them anymore. To be honest, I probably wouldn't buy the lightest ones, since winter is almost over, but I think they'd work really well with the other pieces shown.

The high waisted ones are in there because I really wanted to try high waist skinnys, because I think with the right outfit they'd stand out more from the sea of low-rise skinnys.

I think the soft pink lace dress would really shine as part of a 20's inspired ensemble, and I really love the black bustier.

Before my iPhoto died, I'd made an album of all the photos I'd collected that had a boudoir kind of feel to them, and was about to post them, but got busy with uni. I hope I can recover the photos!!!

The last dress was my second choice for Valentino, but I couldn't go past the first one, which I think suits the occasion more.

Sportsgirl also has some amazing summer pieces, however I can't save the photos from the site, so unfortunately I can't share them here.
