The reason I love this is because it's an escape, it's weird, wonderful and beautiful with an out of this world aesthetic combined with their mischievous, restless energy.
It's also the reason I love fashion and visual inspiration in the forms of film and photography. Fashion is such an expression of self and despite the claims that its consumerist, conformist and superficial, I think the way you present yourself is one of the few ways you can choose to share something about yourself with others without saying a single word.
I want to wear things that feel right at home sitting on my skin. An extension of myself. I love the world of beautiful things in unusual places.
It's an escape for me and I find it's a home away from home when the real world gets stressful or too structured or when it feels like I'm not connecting with anything. It's strange that when I feel like I'm floating along, just bobbing up and down on the tide and not really connecting with the world, that a creative escape is what roots me in reality.
I have an addiction to fashion magazines that push the edge and present something that would almost be considered ugly at first glance, or not quite right. That is when things are at their most beautiful. In the words of Gabrielle Chanel herself, in order to be irreplaceable, one must be different.
I spend countless hours on the Internet searching for blogs that inspire and speak to me. I'm very excited because I've just found several more that are almost everything I want in an inspirational blog, so I'll add them to my blogroll.
I should be writing a pitch for my journalism assignment.
